SUMMARY:Côte d'Opale (weekend-long hike along cliffs\, dunes and beaches)
DESCRIPTION:On the weekend of the 23rd we are going on an expedition to my beloved Atlantic Ocean. Oh\, do I miss it…\n\nWe will walk along the shore of the Natural Park of Côte d’Opale in northern France and have a sip at every beach. \nA couple of merely illustrative GPXs files (Remember to right-click or press for a second or two in order to download the GPX): \nGPX file I \nGPX file II \nWe will walk along the shore and swim\, that is for certain. Probably both along the façade north and the façade west. The details are to be decided. \nIt will depend on the tides\, if high\, they can make the trails longer\, if low\, shorter. And on the whim of the moment. These are not loops so we can turn around at any time or stay in a place for a couple of hours if we so wish. \nAlso working many kilometres on the sand will be slower and more tiresome. \nSo we are not going to do long distances this time (perhaps 10-15 km per day). \nOn the other hand\, this is as flat as flat can be (min altitude is 0 and max 46 m). \nI would not expect high temperatures in areas so exposed to the Atlantic winds\, but bring sunscreen and something to cover your head. \nWe need to find accommodation at least for Saturday night. Those who wish can arrive on Friday evening. I might be one of them. \nThe carpooling will be arranged in due time. I can take three people. The drive is about four hours and a half. SUMMARY:Weiswampach - Ouren : Hiking accross 3 countries and swimming in the lake
DESCRIPTION:We can meet at Weiswampach\, in the parking lot behind the Église Saint-Jean-Népomucène (there are a couple of others around the lakes). \nIn order to get to Weiswampach one needs to take a train to Ettelbruck and then a bus from there. There are two buses arriving to Weiswampach shortly before the start of the hike. \nPlease\, leave a comment for carpooling options. \nThe hike can be either 18 or 23 km depending on the temperature. If it is hot we will do the short version and spend more time at the lake. \nThe trail runs mostly under the shade of the forests along the Our across Luxembourg\, Belgium and Germany. \nIt is largely flat\, as you will see if you click here.

SUMMARY:Multiple choice hike around the lake of the Haute Sûre
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, same idea as Saturday: Hike plus lake. \nThis time around the Haute-Sûre. \nTwo (or more) options\, depending on how hot it is and how tired we are from the previous day: \nOPTION 1: \nBurflet (south of the lake): Mini-hike (7 km) and a really nice beach with public toilets and typically not crowded. Very flat too as you will see if you click here. \nOPTION 2: \nBëscht – Därend (north of the lake). Short exploratory hike from beach to beach (15 km). This one is no a loop and therefore we can turn around whenever we wish. Also pretty flat as you can see by clicking here. \nTentatively\, we are going to say Option I (Burfelt) but\, should we change our minds\, I will send the coordinates of the parking north of the lake. \nPublic transport seems challenging.
