At the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle there is the picturesque city of Koblenz, the gate to the Upper Middle Rhine Valley UNESCO World Heritage.<\/p>\n

Starting from the train station, we will climb our way up to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, across the Rhine, from where we will have a stunning view of the city. On our way to the Deutsches Eck, right at the confluence of the two rivers, we will visit the gardens of the Kurf\u00fcrstliches Palace.<\/p>\n

This should leave us ample time to explore the Old Town, together or on your own.<\/p>\n

The train trip from Luxembourg takes slightly over two hours each way. At the time of this writing, the return ticket costs \u20ac25 at bahn.com<\/a>. It can be even cheaper if several tickets are purchased together. I will probably take the 9:33 train from Luxembourg and return at 19:19 but feel free to make your own arrangements.<\/p>\n
